Job Description

This VP role is responsible for developing and leading comprehensive Site transformation program across GSQ and PDT and ensures alignment of improvement initiatives to strategy.

You will lead a team of three transformation squads geographically located (US, EU, APAC), with the global Transformation Lead as direct reports. This role and ensure accelerated digital systems deployment and adoption for tiered accountability and performance tracking, as well as asset utilization effectiveness and capacity planning, supported by a specific Digital system Leads to deliver a step change in operational efficiency at sites. Additionally, this leader is tasked with modality optimization across the full value chain from API, DS, to Engineering & maintenance to labs, to accelerate and scale the adoption of transformational levers to enhance network efficiency. The overall Site transformation Head is additionally supported by a Site transformation PMO.

The Head of Site Transformation works closely with executive and senior leaders to drive strategic and tactical change, collaborating closely with Global Finance, Enterprise Sourcing & Procurement, Regulatory affairs and all of the GSQ LT and site leadership teams. This role reports directly to the Head of the Global Supply and Quality Transformation Office. This team will drive the Booster transformation initiative at all sites across GSQ supporting the tracking of actual value creation and derisking supply and market volatility- with the aim to support Sites to deliver on MRP commitments, whilst uncovering additional potential. This team is critical to GSQs transformation success, enabling our sites to be more competitive and productive versus benchmarks and ensuring our transformation capabilities are fully embedded to deliver strong performance culture now and in the future.

This team will also define, codify, and deploy true modality excellence standards for site support and indirect processes that materially affect manufacturing performance, quality flow, cost, capacity, and reliability.

As part of the role the team reporting to the head of Site Transformation are accountable to:

  • Translate benchmark performance, process observations, AVIX analysis, LPMS insights, and AI-enabled analytics into practical standards and playbooks that sites can adopt consistently and sustain through daily management systems. 
  • Drive cost optimization and capacity enablement by reducing non-value-added indirect effort, standardizing work content, improving productivity, strengthening flow, and identifying automation, AI, digital, and analytics opportunities that are directly linked to business outcomes. 

Accountabilities

Portfolio delivery leadership

  • Own delivery oversight for GSQ transformation roadmap, ensuring transformation step change is achieved, with prior knowledge of driving multisite transformation programs and operating systems.
  • Ensure sites have a clear transformation charter, scope, benefits case, roadmap, governance, and delivery cadence through the deployment of the Booster program.
  • Drive delivery to time/cost/scope and ensure benefits realization is actively managed.
  • Actively scout, identify and embed new transformational opportunities into value stream optimization.

Lead and develop direct reports

  • Set expectations and operating rhythms (weekly delivery reviews, risk/dependency management, milestone governance).
  • Coach Leads in structured problem solving, execution discipline, stakeholder management, and benefits tracking.
  • Build capability for scalable transformation delivery across sites and functions.

Cross-site / cross-functional orchestration

  • Align workstreams across manufacturing sites and global functions to avoid duplication, manage interdependencies, and maximize enterprise impact at scale.
  • Connect value stream optimizations at enterprise level, ensuring implications are considered end-to-end, connected to above site functions and beyond GSQ.
  • Partner closely with Site Heads, Quality leaders, Supply Chain leaders, and Finance to ensure adoption and sustainment.

Issue, risk, and dependency management

  • Establish proactive escalation, decision-making, and resolution pathways.
  • Identify systemic blockers (capacity, data, technical constraints, quality/regulatory impacts) and drive mitigation.

Performance and benefits realization

  • Ensure each workstream has defined KPIs and benefit measures.
  • Validate measurement approach with Finance / controlling and ensure benefit delivery is sustained and actualized.
  • Deployed tiered accountability and modality excellence across GSQ

Continuous improvement & standardization

  • Drive standard ways of working across transformation workstreams, embedded capabilities at global and local level to sustain our transformation engine.
  • Capture and scale best practices across sites (“replicate and standardize” model).

Education, Behavioral Competencies and Skills:

Skills and qualifications:

  • Extensive experience leading teams within transformation of technical operations including in manufacturing (large & small molecules), supply, or quality sectors, with lean six sigma black belt required.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects and initiatives simultaneously
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with a focus on operational performance improvement
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to build trusted relationships and influence executive stakeholders, coaching diverse teams and stakeholders from senior level to shopfloor.
  • Experience in spend optimization and process improvement methodologies.
  • Strong business acumen and financial understanding, with the ability to diagnose cost and productivity potential at a step change level.
  • Strong knowledge of digital transformational levers to unlock operational efficiencies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions and levels to drive change and achieve goals
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing site operations, quality management systems, supply chain is required.
  • Demonstrated capability to report to senior leadership and provide clear, actionable updates

Education / experience

  • 10+ years’ experience in the global pharmaceutical or related industry
  • Bachelors Degree, preferably in life sciences, business or engineering (or equivalent experience) or equivalent business experience. Masters Degree is preferred.

Base Salary Range:

CHF263,300.00 - CHF362,010.00
