Job Description
The Marketing Engagement Lead owns the local customer engagement strategy for assigned brand(s), translating Takeda’s central brand strategy and modular content into a locally executable, omnichannel plan, and delivers local brand performance anchored in Takeda’s values of Patient, Trust, Reputation and Business.
Key objectives
- Own the local customer engagement strategy for assigned brand(s), translating Takeda’s central brand strategy and modular content into a locally executable plan.
- Design the customer journey and orchestrate omnichannel engagement across field and non-personal channels, managing local investment on an ROI basis.
- Feed performance, market and customer insights back to Marketing & Commercial Excellence (MCE) to shape future brand strategy and content.
- Serve as the local expert on the NHS/HSE operating environment, using internal and external insight sources to shape a UK/IE-fit engagement and brand plan.
- Deliver local brand performance — market competitiveness and financial results — anchored in Takeda’s values of Patient, Trust, Reputation and Business.
Responsibilities
- Own the Local Engagement Plan — an all-channel, all-tactic plan covering segments, objectives, channel mix and sequencing, module selection, budget, enablement, measurement and learning agenda — developed with cross-functional buy-in.
- Lead local brand planning inputs, ensuring customer engagement activity is connected to brand strategy, commercial objectives, launch priorities and lifecycle opportunities.
- Conduct local situational analysis and customer insight to ground the engagement strategy (engagement-focused, not brand re-strategizing).
- Design the local HCP/customer journey and experience across touchpoints, optimising engagement quality rather than activity volume.
- Select, adapt and prioritise the elements of Takeda’s central MCE strategy that best meet the needs of UK & IE customers and the local healthcare system.
- Set engagement objectives, target audiences, key messages and content needs across face-to-face (field/KAM), many-to-many (meetings, congresses, advisory boards) and digital/non-personal channels.
- Brief and train field teams on brand messaging and narrative; the Sales Lead owns field-team management, coaching and delivery.
- Orchestrate cross-functional engagement — convene and align commercial, medical and access partners, leading or co-leading the local engagement team while respecting compliance processes and SOPs.
- Apply a reuse-first, modular-content approach via the Takeda Content Factory; localise only where required within approved claims and run efficient local MLR.
- Use data, analytics and AI-enabled orchestration (next-best-action / decision engines, CRM) to interpret performance and personalise engagement.
- Manage and optimise the local engagement investment and partner with Finance and Supply on forecasting and demand planning.
- Support launch excellence and lifecycle management by coordinating local readiness, performance tracking, optimisation and post-launch learning.
- Close the loop — convert performance data into next-wave optimisation and structured insight, content/module gaps and recommendations back to MCE.
Ensuring compliance with the following regulations / requirements:
- All applicable laws, regulations and industry codes (e.g. EFPIA and the relevant national pharmaceutical industry code).
- Takeda’s policies, SOPs and ethical standards.
- Medical, Legal and Regulatory (MLR) review processes, and the separation of promotional and medical/scientific engagement.
Key Requirements
Qualifications
- Relevant degree (e.g. life sciences, marketing or business). Specific requirements confirmed locally.
- Advanced qualification (e.g. postgraduate degree) an advantage.
Experience
- Proven experience in pharmaceutical / healthcare marketing, customer engagement or omnichannel activation.
- Experience localising central strategy and content, and orchestrating cross-functional, omnichannel engagement.
- Experience contributing to brand planning, launch preparation, launch execution and lifecycle management in a local pharmaceutical market.
- Experience managing activity budgets within compliance / MLR processes.
- Strong understanding of the UK/IE NHS/HSE operating environment and its implications for customer engagement, access, adoption and brand performance.
Skills/Competencies
- Data, analytics and AI fluency (next-best-action, decision engines, CRM).
- Modular-content and MLR literacy with a reuse-first mindset.
- Matrix leadership and cross-functional orchestration; strong influencing and stakeholder management.
- Strategic brand planning, launch excellence and lifecycle management capability, with the ability to connect customer engagement to commercial outcomes.
- Agile, test-and-learn ways of working.
Disposition:
- Role-models Takeda’s six culture pillars: Patient-Centric, People-Minded, Respectful & Collaborative, Decision Effectiveness, Performance Culture and Enterprise Orientation.
- Patient-centred and values-led (Patient, Trust, Reputation, Business); debates then commits, and decides with speed while managing risk and compliance.
- Enterprise-first mindset; embraces change and takes calculated, compliant risks to improve engagement and outcomes.
Complexity and Problem Solving
This role operates in a fast-moving omnichannel environment and is expected to:
- Balance central strategy and content with local execution, and the separation of promotional vs medical / scientific engagement, across multiple channels and brands.
- Translate NHS/HSE environment dynamics, local customer needs and external market signals into practical choices on strategy adaptation, launch execution and lifecycle optimisation.
- Navigate compliance constraints (MLR, SOPs, local codes) while acting with pace to deliver measurable results.
- Operate with autonomy within a defined scope, making and being accountable for decisions that affect the country / LOC, assigned brand(s) results and customer outcomes.
- Apply Takeda’s decision framework — balancing Patient, Trust, Reputation and Business priorities — and respect decision roles (Decide / Advise / Inform).
Internal and External Contacts
- Internal: local cross-functional engagement team (commercial, medical, access); central Marketing & Commercial Excellence (Strategy & Marketing, Marketing Execution, Commercial Capabilities); Sales; Finance; Supply; DD&T and Insights & Analytics.
- External: priority customers and healthcare professionals (HCPs); external partners and agencies as required.
Additional information
This role must be performed in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and industry codes (e.g. EFPIA and the relevant national pharmaceutical industry code) and with Takeda’s policies, SOPs and ethical standards. [Add any country-specific legal or works-council requirements here.]
