Job Description
The purpose of this role is to actively manage the Takeda’s tax position in Mexico by ensuring all direct & indirect tax matters are being properly handled for all Mexican legal entities. An essential part of this role is to be accountable for the quarterly / annual income tax accounting reporting to ensure that the Mexican taxes / risks are properly recorded in Takeda’s consolidated financial statements under IFRS.
Direct tax
The individual will effectively manage Takeda’s direct tax position for Takeda, including but not limited to Tax Accounting, Compliance, Audit Defense & Transfer Pricing. The person will ensure the correct implementation of the global transfer pricing model in line with local tax legislation, provide assistance to local business development transactions & generate local tax planning ideas where possible. The preparation of the corporate income tax returns is currently outsourced to a service partner (EY), but require a strong supervision to ensure alignment with the business and the global tax strategy.
Indirect tax
The indirect taxes in Mexico are complex mainly because they are done on cash basis and Takeda has significant amounts of credit to refund. The individual will effectively manage Takeda’s indirect tax position for Takeda to remain competitive within a challenging economic environment and to capture opportunities where possible. The indirect tax returns are currently outsourced to a service partner (EY), but the credit claims must be prepared in house and are accumulated for a year at the moment.
By serving as an internal tax expert for tax matters in Mexico, this individual will provide advice and support to the Head of Tax Latam, and Head of Tax Emerging Markets as well as to other functions (Supply Chain, Local Finance, BU Heads, etc), will prepare tax research memorando & will actively educate internal business partners on relevant tax rules and the impact on the business. Critically important is that the individual assigned to this position plays a key bridge function between the global tax department and the local finance organization and can properly balance local vs. global considerations
