Job Description

About the role:

The Senior Manager, Contract Management is an experienced contracting professional responsible for supporting and managing the end-to-end contract lifecycle for Takeda Oncology’s Pricing, Value, and Access contracting activities. Working within established contracting strategies, approval requirements, and escalation pathways, this individual drafts, reviews, negotiates, executes, and administers agreements in collaboration with internal stakeholders.

PVA’s primary commercial contracting customers include health plans, Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), specialty pharmacies, group purchasing organizations (GPOs), wholesalers, and distributors. Government contracting encompasses State Medicaid and the VA Federal Supply Schedule. The Senior Manager works across these customer segments and develops increasing knowledge of applicable reimbursement, regulatory, operational, and financial considerations.

The role requires strong execution, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage a significant volume of contracting work. The Senior Manager identifies contractual risks, recommends practical solutions, and escalates complex, novel, or high-risk matters to the Head of Contracts & Pricing, Legal, or other appropriate stakeholders.

How you will contribute:

  • Contract Management: Applies contract-management principles independently to routine and moderately complex agreements and follows established escalation pathways for novel or higher-risk issues.
  • Drafting and Negotiation: Drafts, reviews, redlines, and negotiates agreements using approved templates, playbooks, fallback language, and business strategies.
  • Risk Recognition: Identifies contractual, financial, operational, and compliance risks and clearly communicates the issue, potential impact, and recommended next step.
  • Judgment: Makes sound decisions within established authority and knows when additional input or approval is required.
  • Execution and Prioritization: Manages a significant volume of concurrent agreements, deadlines, and stakeholder requests while maintaining accuracy and responsiveness.
  • Analytical Thinking: Evaluates contract structures, reimbursement provisions, pricing terms, operational requirements, and implementation considerations.
  • Communication: Produces clear, concise, and professional written work and communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Builds effective working relationships with Market Access, Legal, Finance, Government Pricing, Contract Operations, Compliance, and account teams.
  • Process Orientation: Documents work consistently and contributes to templates, standard procedures, workflow improvements, and contracting infrastructure.
  • Learning Agility: Develops expertise in new customer channels, agreement types, systems, and reimbursement concepts.
  • Integrity and Compliance: Conducts all contracting activity consistently with company policy, applicable law, approved authority, and governance requirements.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience in contract management, commercial contracting, Market Access, managed care, pharmaceutical operations, healthcare, or another highly regulated environment. Equivalent combinations of education and directly relevant experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, redlining, administering, or negotiating commercial agreements.
  • Experience managing multiple agreements or workstreams through established review, approval, and execution processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify contractual risk, apply established guidance, and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with business stakeholders and functions such as Legal, Finance, Compliance, Pricing, Contract Operations, Procurement, or Sales.
  • Strong written communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.

Desired:

  • Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, payer, PBM, specialty pharmacy, GPO, wholesaler, distributor, or government-contracting experience.
  • Experience with pharmaceutical rebates, pricing, reimbursement, chargebacks, or Market Access contracting.
  • Experience developing or improving contract processes, templates, playbooks, tracking tools, or contracting systems.
  • Experience supporting a U.S. product launch or implementation of a new contracting program.
  • Oncology experience.
  • Experience with Model N or another revenue-management or contract-lifecycle-management platform.
  • JD, paralegal background, contracting certification, or other relevant advanced education.
