Job Description

As a member of the Manufacturing Sciences – Downstream group, you will provide technical and scientific support focusing on developing process data analytics tools to enhance monitoring and decision-making in commercial-scale production. The role includes creating automated dashboards and visualization methods to streamline process data presentation, enable real-time trend identification, and improve process understanding. You will also support multivariate modeling efforts, such as SIMCA batch evolution modeling, to evaluate process performance, detect deviations, and drive data-driven improvements. By building and applying these tools, you will also contribute to strengthening process robustness, efficiency, and compliance while supporting technology transfer and routine manufacturing activities.

How You Will Contribute:

Duties will include the following, under the manager's supervision

  • Creating and improving upon Spotfire dashboards to automate process data presentation

  • Creating and improving upon SIMCA batch evolution models for Downstream unit operations

  • Presentation of manufacturing process data to cross-functional teams

  • Demonstrate teamwork/collaboration and the ability to communicate appropriately and effectively.

  • Be customer focused, results oriented, science driven and embrace Takeda's values.

  • Have the attitude to proactively learn new technologies

  • Assist in analyzing complex technical problems, then finding and implementing solutions.

  • Apply fundamental scientific and biological principles to practical technical challenges.

Internship Development Opportunities:

Intern will learn:

  • Hands-on exposure to biologics manufacturing processes, especially downstream (chromatography, filtration) unit operations

  • Application of process data analytics to monitor manufacturing performance, identify trends, and support data-driven decision-making.

  • Introduction to multivariate statistical modeling, including SIMCA batch evolution analysis, for process monitoring and troubleshooting.

  • Practical understanding of working in a regulated Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment, including compliance and documentation requirements.

  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams such as manufacturing, quality, and engineering to support process improvements

  • Experience translating technical data and findings into clear, actionable reports and presentations.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelors or a Master’s in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in data analysis and visualization

  • Familiarity with programming languages (e.g. Python) is a plus

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team and communicate technical findings clearly.

  • A passion for science and an interest in careful investigation and creative, analytical thinking.

  • This position will be Full time and “hybrid” in accordance with Takeda’s Hybrid and Remote Work policy

Internship Eligibility

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship 

  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2026 or later 

  • The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (May 26th-August 14th or June 15th- August 21st)  

  • The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames

  • Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates  

  • Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

U.S. Hourly Wage Range:

$21.00 - $46.00

The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship.The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. internship benefits vary by location and may include:
