Job Description
About the role:
Join Takeda as a Director, Medical Strategic Alliances where you will lead medical engagement strategies and partnerships with key external organizations to advance Takeda’s priorities in improving healthcare and patient outcomes. You will be a key contributor to therapeutic area medical teams and will collaborate across the organization to shape Takeda’s presence in the medical community, creating value for healthcare providers, patients and driving innovation. As part of the US Medical team, you will report to the Head of Strategic Alliances, US Medical.
How you will contribute:
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement medical engagement strategies with external organizations aligning US therapeutic area (TA) goals, Takeda’s priorities and external stakeholders needs.
Relationship Building: Cultivate strategic alliances with external stakeholders, including medical societies, quality organizations and in collaboration with Public Affairs Advocacy team, patient organizations.
Impact and Reporting: Define and measure partnership success and ensure insights from external partners are shared across teams to inform Takeda’s strategies and initiatives.
Lead Holistic External Engagement
Lead environmental assessments to understand and anticipate US medical trends and opportunities for Takeda engagement with external organizations
Build and strengthen medical relationships with professional societies, healthcare quality and other prioritized organizations
Develop and implement robust engagement strategies and detailed plans with prioritized organizations
Strategic Alignment and Internal Collaboration
Partner with cross-functional teams across medical strategy teams (US, Global), patient advocacy, new product planning, R&D, and commercial groups to ensure unified, consistent external engagement
Act as the strategic connector among launch, new product planning teams and established medical teams ensuring internal coordination supports external engagement alignment
Be a champion for showing up cohesively as “One Takeda” by fostering collaboration across multiple teams interacting with similar external stakeholders
Ensure updates on engagement, partnerships and impact are disseminated across Takeda for alignment and optimization. Where appropriate, work with internal partners to amplify or share externally
Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies while fostering external engagement effectiveness
Strategically Prioritized Partnerships
Identify cross-functional opportunities to foster innovation within and across therapeutic areas
Evaluate and identify high-impact partnerships and topics aligned with Takeda’s goals to ensure external engagements are meaningful, impactful, and innovative
Define metrics for success and regularly communicate insights across internal teams to optimize Takeda's external presence and impact
Leadership Scope
Direct partnerships with external organizations; influence across therapeutic areas and enterprise-level priorities
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor's degree required
Pharm D, MD, PhD, M.P.H., M.S., or equivalent education or working experience preferred
Ideal areas of expertise: Clinical Research, Healthcare Innovation, Pharmacoeconomics, Health Policy, Public Health, Health Services Research.
Knowledge & Experience
Required: Minimum 10 years in the healthcare industry.
Preferred: 5-7 years’ experience in medical affairs, research and development, patient and stakeholder engagement, advocacy or related experience in the pharmaceutical industry or relevant experience at a non-profit, medical society, academic medical center, etc.
Experience in immunology, dermatology, rheumatology or gastrointestinal disorders
Leadership experience in medical affairs, pipeline planning, advocacy, or external engagement, with a proven track record of driving results in complex, matrixed organizations.
Strategic thinker with experience engaging professional societies and patient organizations across therapeutic areas.
Strong scientific, analytical, communication and coordination skills, able to connect multiple stakeholders and unify diverse priorities under a cohesive organizational vision.
Ability to evaluate and prioritize partnerships based on long-term strategic goals and metrics for impact.
Additional Information:
Willingness to travel to various meetings or partner sites, including overnight trips. Some international travel may be required.
Requires approximately 10-30% travel.

Massachusetts - VirtualU.S. Base Salary Range:
$191,800.00 - $301,400.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S.based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
