Job Description
About the role:
As the Lead, Global Maintenance (Director Maintenance and Utilities Engineering), you will be leading and managing the engineering operations of the organization. You will ensure that standards of quality, cost, safety, reliability, timeliness, and performance are met in production processes. By providing strategic direction and oversight, this role contributes to Takeda's mission. You will set strategic direction and roadmap for Global Manufacturing & Supply (GMS) for maintenance, calibration, spare parts, and equipment reliability in partnership with internal and external partners.
How you will contribute:
Lead technology and innovation for asset management and maintenance to ensure continuous improvement inline with industry technology and digitalization trends. Leads the global Lifecycle Asset & Maintenance Program (LAMP) and Center of Excellence (CoE) to optimize Takeda engineering/facility asset management from design and operations to shutdown and decommissioning.
Provide leadership for global programs such as LAMP and facilitate integration into sites and optimized/harmonized workflows to drive plant-based performance improvement.
Global process owner for maintenance & calibration (standards, guidelines, best practice, etc.); leads, partners, and influences to establish the best-known-method at sites for maintenance and calibration, and spare parts best practices following Good Engineering and Good Manufacturing Practices. Key interface to Global ERP upgrade program (TAKAMI)
Global business owner for computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Drive innovative and digital solutions and promote robust replication of proven technologies.
Collaborate with the global Operation Technology (OT), and global IT teams to ensure consistency in data capture, management and analysis across all disciplines.
Lead and coach a high performing global team of Maintenance & Reliability experts responsible for providing detailed equipment analytics and monitoring, coaching sites to ensure optimal work management processes are established, and intervene to drive performance where necessary.
Provide leadership to establish and foster Reliability Engineering to optimize asset reliability and uptime in the plants.
Provides guidance and direction in identifying and prioritizing top plant reliability issues through data and technical expertise and foster proactive reliability culture across GMS network.
Drives optimization of maintenance strategies for sites and plant culture to reduce or eliminate planned plant shutdown time.
Utilize key performance indicators and digital dashboards to monitor and influence improvement in the plant network.
Develop and lead implementation of overall MRO program at GMS sites.
Manage, sustain & create value to Maintenance, Repair and Operations.
Measure and track performance of contract MRO partner including managing the relationship, conducting Business Reviews with internal sites and service partner to ensure sustainable performance of service provider to all applicable sites.
Coordinate strategy with Global Procurement, Regional, Op U and local sites in Spare Parts activities.
provides leadership and subject matter expertise in leading the MRO program.
Partner with MRO provider and key internal stakeholders to achieve optimum outcome for the program.
Develop and implement governance process to the program – including any legal and relationship management documentation in alignment with corresponding functions.
Accountable for monitoring and measuring success and communicating to key stakeholders including site leadership, regional and OpU leadership, GMS/GQ LT and Procurement/Finance partners.
What You bring to Takeda:
Technical, Scientific and/or Engineering degree with 15 years of technical or business experience, or an advanced degree in a scientific/technical/business discipline with 10 years of experience in biopharmaceutical engineering facility management
Experience in engineering, facilities, maintenance or manufacturing management with progressively larger and more complex scopes of responsibility leading to global oversight.
Experience in managing and optimizing maintenance systems including process (work order, planning/scheduling, etc.) and information systems (CMMS) in a regulated environment would be ideal.
In-depth experience in facility, maintenance, reliability engineering, spare parts and engineering management processes and best practices.
In-depth regulatory, quality and engineering expertise and experience in manufacturing, engineering and facility process and trends to continuously measure success in maintenance and calibration operations, proactive and efficient asset management of GMP manufacturing facilities.
Able to provide strategic direction and road maps to evaluate, expand or reduce program based on value to Takeda across all sites.
Effectively collaborate with internal customers to understand issues and opportunities and partners with them to drive improvements (Operating Unit, Site Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, EH&S, and Manufacturing leaders).
Interact with organizations outside of Takeda to understand industry trends for Maintenance, Repair and Operations of global manufacturing facilities and adopt best practices.
Own documentation and guidelines to drive harmonization and best practices relating to Maintenance, Calibration, Spare Parts, and Asset Management.
Expertise in maintenance technologies and digital innovations, including advanced predictive maintenance and computerized maintenance management systems.
Establishes long-range strategic roadmaps and business plans in-line with current and anticipated technical and digitalization trends.
For new innovations, understands the business drivers, customer needs and global dynamics to create viable strategic plans and implementation roadmaps.
Strong experience with AI-based technologies in maintenance such as advanced predictive maintenance solutions etc.
Experience in global process and facility engineering and the associated regulatory and quality requirements as well as managing service providers and service level agreements.
Strong knowledge of cGMP/GLP regulations; strong technical, interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
Has high-level business acumen and knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry. Has the necessary business knowledge to work with outside groups, such as HR, Finance, IT and EHS.
