About the role

The HR Business Partnering Manager plays a pivotal role in driving and executing key initiatives across multiple Human Resources functions. This position supports the daily operations of the Round Lake site by implementing HR programs and policies, ensuring compliance, and delivering responsive, hands-on HR support. Core responsibilities include maintaining accurate HRIS data, managing employee relations, overseeing leave administration, and addressing a wide range of day-to-day HR matters. By providing practical, efficient, and people-focused solutions, this role directly contributes to the smooth operation and ongoing success of the site.

How you will contribute

As the HR Business Partnering Manager, you will play a key role in shaping and supporting the Round Lake site’s workforce strategy and employee experience. Your contributions will span across several core HR functions:

  • Workforce Planning: Ensure staffing needs are met in alignment with operational goals through effective planning and execution.
  • Talent Management: Support succession planning efforts and provide guidance to junior team members.
  • Employee Engagement: Drive initiatives to enhance engagement and deliver actionable insights for continuous improvement.
  • Change Management: Assist in implementing organizational change initiatives and provide support during transitions.
  • Organizational Development: Facilitate team development and align processes to support business objectives.
  • Recruitment: Partner with Talent Acquisition and business leaders to ensure recruitment efforts align with workforce planning and strategic goals.
  • Internship Program Management: Lead the Summer Internship Program, managing 5–8 interns annually from recruitment through program completion.
  • Employee Relations: Participate in local employee investigations and ensure compliance with employment regulations.
  • Reporting and Presentation: Generate reports and create professional presentations to summarize HR metrics and employee activities.
  • HR Consulting: Provide strategic HR guidance to address cultural and performance-related challenges.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Apply employment regulations across HR processes, manage leave reporting, and coordinate with occupational health and corporate leave teams on ADA and workers’ compensation cases.
  • Team Leadership: Coach junior staff and oversee small project teams to foster growth and development.

What you bring to Takeda

Education & Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, including at least 3 years in HR business partnering and operational roles; 8+ years preferred.
  • Proven experience supporting employee relations, managing leave processes, and overseeing performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement HR practices that align with organizational goals and compliance standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing HRIS data.
  • Experience leading HR projects and driving process improvements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly desirable.

Physical Demands

  • Must be available to work second shift hours at least twice per week to support night shift operations, typically from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Frequent or continuous lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and repetitive motion activities.
  • Role involves a combination of sedentary desk work and walking throughout the facility.
  • Extended periods of sitting and computer use are required.
  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment and is subject to indoor conditions.
  • Occasional local travel (less than 5%) may be required, primarily for training purposes.
  • May require entry into controlled environments with specialized gowning protocols.
  • In manufacturing areas, the following are prohibited: makeup, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish, and artificial fingernails.

Takeda's manufacturing facility in Round Lake, Illinois, is an integral part of Takeda’s Plasma Network. Close in proximity to both Chicago and Milwaukee, the state-of-the-art facility specializes in producing Flexbumin through the GALAXY manufacturing process. Flexbumin is albumin, contained in a flexible pouch, for patients who experience a loss of plasma volume from situations such as trauma, surgery, blood loss and burns. Round Lake supplies its product to patients all over the world, with key markets in the U.S., China, and India.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$111,800.00 - $175,670.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
