Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic, visionary leader to join the newly formed Commercial Analytics & Insights (CA&I) organization as Head of GIBU A&I.


Leverages deep knowledge in competitive intelligence, primary and secondary data and analytics (expertise in available datasets like patient-level claims, sales, and EMR data along with customer insight research methodologies) to lead the cross-functional Gastroenterology Business Unit (GIBU) Analytics & Insights team comprising of primary market research (customer insights), competitive intelligence and strategic analytics. The role fosters insight identification and development of supportive analytics to inform strategic choices and investments for a broad portfolio of in-line and pipeline GI products. Coaches team to build insightful, creative, and continuously improving strategic deliverables to the brand, sales and market access teams, along with other key stakeholders across the GIBU.

Oversees and provides analysis regarding impacts of insights (primary and secondary research, competitive intelligence, brand and sales analytics, and partnership with forecasting and advanced analytics and data COEs) to inform forecasting assessment, prioritization of investment, and support informed decision making across the GI portfolio. Proactively identifies business questions (e.g., market trends, product performance, marketing campaign development (provider and consumer) and performance, market access analytics, sales force organization design, dynamic targeting, next best action) and determines the optimal approach to answer them through data, analytics, market research,
etc.


Brings a consultative approach to partnering with stakeholders to validate the business opportunity, develop a strategy based on analytic insights, monitor, and optimize sales and marketing tactics. Is an advisor across the commercial organization for designing effective reporting KPIs to deliver clear, accurate actionable insights with a relentless focus on accuracy. Fosters strategic customer insights and analytics to drive business decisions

How you will contribute:

  • Sets strategic direction, driving analytics and leading insights generation and value proposition development for the GI Business Insights team.
  • Leads, manages and continues to evolve the development of a holistic cross-functional point of view to address ad hoc cross-brand and/or cross-functional business questions that require the integration of input from marketing, sales, market access, and patient services analytics, decision science, and primary market research. Creates value by adding own and synthesizing groups’ insights into actionable outputs with insights from the results, elevating the “why” of the visual information.
  • Partners with franchise leads to identify strategic priorities for the in-line and launch portfolio and craft analytics and insights plans to best meet the needs of the business. Communicates clear findings and recommends appropriate action to executive-level Franchise leadership.
  • Identify, assess, and advance insights into the key internal and external factors that affect products in the BU landscape, including but not limited to: patient journey, assessment of a wide range of data sets to inform trends and opportunities, assessments to evaluate tactical plans and priorities, etc.
  • Leads annual Brand Planning Situation Analysis workshops along with providing strategic input into annual franchise brand planning processes for in-line and pipeline products. Provides strategic input into the annual Global Brand Planning process which is disseminated to the LOCs for tactical execution.
  • Partner with forecasting COE to provide direction for demand forecast, risks and ops.
  • Partner closely with Commercial Operations, HEOR, sales force effectiveness, patient services, and managed markets teams to provide expertise and insights
  • Oversee competitive intelligence activities, serving as lead partner to align findings and implications cross-functionally and globally to inform mid and long-range forecasting efforts and creation of shared data and analytics to better mine data and understand the drivers of customer behaviors.
  • Provide strategic insights and analysis to ensure clear brand strategies that address unmet need along the patient journey that will provide strategic direction, identify key insights and analytics relevant to promotional excellence, allow tracking based upon driven insights, and direction for the forecasting group to develop robust forecasts for product and trade-offs with other products in the franchise.
  • Ensure best practices in marketed products and launch excellence insights and analytics by serving as a thought leader, providing strategic consulting and market perspective to key business stakeholders on strategies and risks, including significant trends, competitive positioning and consumer decision making drivers based on thorough trends, segment and marketing analysis.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, engineering, business, marketing analytics or a related field required with a master’s degree in business, science, engineering or advanced analytics preferred
  • 10+ years’ experience in Insights & Analytics role or related positions with in-depth experience of innovating and implementing successful market research and analytics capabilities required.
  •  5+ years of progressive people and project management; experience as a leader of leaders, a plus
  • Ability to provide full oversight to the full spectrum of pharmaceutical analytical functions and the ability to conduct business analytics and market research across multiple therapeutic areas
  • Deep expertise in pharmaceutical data sources and their application to support business decisions. Experience utilizing limited/ sub-optimal data to gain insights in specialty pharmaceutical products or orphan/ rare diseases. Ability to combine primary data sources and secondary market research insights to support sales and marketing strategies and forecasting
  • Comprehension of early commercial strategy and U.S. launch expertise, sales force execution and insight gathering methodologies needed to evolve pre-launch strategy. Launch experience from I&A capabilities perspective is critical
  • Deep expertise in primary market research methods, data coverage and strategy and analytics tools including appropriate patient cohort analysis and new ways to strategically leverage data and effectively utilize advanced analytics COE
  • Manages budget to support GI Primary Market Research and Analytics, along with identify risks and ops for the BU and franchise P&L
  • Leads a team of about 4 people leaders leading GI franchises
  • Actively hires, develops, and mentors talent creating a learning organization
  • Builds and maintains a learning and continuous-development environment to ensure employee engagement and growth, while identifying and rectifying poor performance
  • Motivates teams to excel by leveraging personal strengths and coaching, helping to leverage areas of strength and improving in areas for development
  • Travel Requirement-Occasional domestic overnight travel may be required

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$208,200.00 - $327,140.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
