About the role:
The role will oversee and coordinate the efforts of a team, ensuring the seamless manage-ment, maintenance, and optimization of Japan regional /site technical (IT) systems at Osaka, Hikari and Narita plant. Acts as the primary point of contact for all technical aspects of the system and services. 
Main scope is Manufacturing system (MES), Lab quality system (LIMS&CDS), Environment, Health and Safety, Quality assurance, Plant infrastructure and cyber security (collaborating with critical infrastructure management team).


Accountabilities:
Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead and mentor Technical System Owners.

  • Allocate resources and manage workload distribution effectively.

  • Close collaboration with global/local business process owners, site/program sponsors, project managers, digital core / products owner, critical infrastructure management, global DD&T, QC lab teams and automation teams and external vendors.

Strategic Oversight

  • Develop and implement strategies for the optimization of technical systems.

  • Ensure alignment of system management practices with organizational goals.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and user experience.

System optimization/delivery

  • Understands the business needs and its strategy/initiatives, and translates them into technical requirement.

  • Identifies areas for improvement within the system to enhance performance and efficiency

  • Implements changes and optimizations to improve system functionality and user experience

  • Monitors system performance and makes adjustments as needed

System management & maintenance

  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of specific technical systems

  • Ensures that systems are running smoothly, efficiently, and reliably    

  • Performs regular maintenance, updates, and upgrades to keep systems current and secure

  • Provide training for operation support and key users

Technical Foundation 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and define technical requirements for new digital core and products

  • Support development and documentation of architecture of new digital core and products, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security

Risk management & compliance

  • Identifies and manages risks related to IT systems

  • Develops and implements risk mitigation strategies

  • Ensures that the system is compliant with all relevant regulations (GMP) and standards

Skills and qualifications:

  • Education (minimum/desirable): Masters’ degree in Engineering, Automation, Information Technology or related Engineering/Technical field

  • More than five (5) years of experience in the life sciences industry on large scale applications, or work experience in manufacturing plants in other industries.

  • More than five (5) years of experience in the management and execution of technical projects 

  • Good Lab quality process /system experience (LIMS and CDS) and / or manufacturing one (MES and automation)

  • Ability to quickly learn software functionality, pharmaceutical production processes and related configuration processes

  • Preferably Know-how in Computer System Validation (CSV), data integrity and cyber security

  • Strong communication skills and ability to write/read in English and Japanese

  • Ability to collaborate with matrix and cross functional team from different business departments

  • Ability to prepare and provide project plans, presentations and templates for decision making 

  • Excellent business acumen with problem solving and analytical skills

  • Experience with vendor management and contract negotiation


As a recognized expert within Takeda globally, you possess in-depth expertise in your discipline and broad knowledge across related areas. You're adept at anticipating internal/external challenges, recommending improvements, and solving unique, far-reaching business problems. Your role involves working on abstract issues, assessing intangible variables, contributing to global Business/Functional strategy, and serving as the primary contact for contracts and operations, conducting briefings and meetings with top management and customers. Operating with significant autonomy in a complex environment, you also lead project teams to achieve milestones and objectives.

Takeda Compensation and Benefits Summary:

  • Salary Increase: Annually, Bonus Payment: Twice a year

  • Working Hours: Headquarters (Osaka/ Tokyo) 9:00-17:30, Production Sites (Osaka/ Yamaguchi) 8:00-16:45, (Narita) 8:30-17:15, Research Site (Kanagawa) 9:00-17:45

  • Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, National Holidays, May Day, Year-End Holidays etc. (approx. 123 days in a year)
